Microscopic image of Water Mite (Hydrachnidia).

Hydrachnidia, also known as "water mites", Hydrachnidiae, Hydracarina or Hydrachnellae, are among the most abundant and diverse groups of benthic arthropods, composed of 6,000 described species from 57 families. In Estonia, water mites mostly live in shallow waters. Elsewhere in the world, they are often found in streams, springs, groundwater and the sea. The flounder is eight feet like all arachnids, and sometimes they even look like overwintered spiders orbiting in the water. The large round body consists of the abdomen and cephalothorax. However, there is no obvious segmentation and the body seems indivisible. Waterfowl have two pairs of eyes, often so close together that there seems to be only one pair. They are small, the adult grows to 2-3 mm in length, some can grow up to 7 mm in length.
