The main structural features that distinguish squirrels from arachnids (Araneae) and mites (Acariformes) are the type of connection between the main body and the hindquarters, the segmentation of the hindquarters, the number and position of the eyes, the presence of olfactory glands and the absence of nets and venom glands. At first glance, the body of the legs appears to consist of only one rounded link, since the main body and the hind body are broadly connected, unlike spiders, which have a narrow stem connected to the corresponding parts of the body. In fact, the hindquarters are in turn segmented into ten parts, although the segments are not always easily distinguishable; some groups also have a dorsal shield, so no division is seen. The main chest consists of six links, each with one pair of extensions: chin guards, jaw clamps and four pairs of link legs.
